Natural Sphalerites Overview
This mineral, known also as blende, or black jack, forms tetrahedral and dodecahedral crystal;
it often exhibits curved crystal faces.
Other habits included massive, granular, concretionary, and botryoidal. The color ranges from black, brown, yellow and red, to green, grey, and white.
It can also be colorless. The streak is pale brown to colorless. Sphalerite varies from translucent to transparent. It has a resinous to adamantine luster.
