Tourmalines enjoy wide popularity due to the wide range of colors available and the presence of Tourmaline in most areas of the world.
Tourmaline crystals are pleochroic, and appear much darker when viewed down the long axis of the crystal than when viewed across the crystal axis.
The most popular colors include Hot Pink and Chrome Green. Tourmaline is very durable and well suited to virtually all jewelry settings.

Legend and Lore
The Empress Dowager Tz'u Hsi of China loved Pink Tourmaline and bought almost a ton of it from the new Himalaya Mine, located in California. The Himalaya Mine is still producing Tourmaline today but the Empress went to rest eternally on a carved Tourmaline pillow.
Tourmaline can assist in the forgiveness of self and others and is particularly helpful when one is sensitive to criticism and other's opinion. It allows the current to flow between mind and body.
